The World Business Peace Network

A Business Initiative for the Love of Humanity: Peace through Business

flowers

Why another project on peace?

Multitudes of individuals, organizations and communities are active in peace work today. Organizers, activists, local and international conferences, events, initiatives and peace projects awaken consciousness and take steps toward peace. Since we don’t yet witness peace on earth, a new level of interaction and collaboration is called for. We believe the interconnection of these initiatives through a vibrant business peace network can “exponentiate” the clout of these initiatives and accelerate the manifestation of peace.

While these precious organizations and people are making a difference, people don’t yet witness peace on earth. People in many parts of the world suffer from inequality, hunger, and violence through wars and terrorism. We believe that an interconnection of these initiatives with a powerful business peace network can “exponentiate” the clout of all these initiatives and accelerate the inevitable movement toward peace.

Why “Business for peace”?

Building on the track record of business in bringing us some of the most significant social and technical innovations in history, it is time for business to take on the challenge of global peace, food, shelter, safety and freedom for all people.

We believe that there are a sufficient number of business leaders who care about the well being of the planet, who understand the urgent need for global cooperation in addition to competition, and who can mobilize the unique capacities of business toward global peace. In a substantial return on investment, businesses will lower their taxes by creating peace since defense is the largest element of discretionary spending by many national governments.

Businesses are uniquely positioned to reach around the globe with their products, services and practices. Businesses are capable of creating bold visions, of long term strategic planning, and of outlining a path forward. Businesses can link values such as social justice, safety, food and education to the resources of time, money and people. Businesses can do what no other social entities can do as well – organize large numbers of diverse people to accomplish complex agendas.

The planet needs business leaders to apply these capabilities of business to the most pressing issue of our time – world peace.
